Today, Eternal Death sets March 27th as the international release date for a special compilation from Vintlechkeit, Svartskogen, svartvinter... / Dødssted..., on vinyl LP format.
Since 2017, the mysterious trio of Vintlechkeit have been a hive of feverish activity. Resolutely remaining in the shadows, these Norwegians have nonetheless released nearly 30 recordings since their formation - at least those that are known publicly. Every step of the way, Vintlechkeit are guided by the possession of the moment, the fires of creation (and destruction), their atmospheric black metal brilliantly raw yet refined, and amazingly with no sacrifice in quality. Their firmament stands strong, and continues to grow taller and more ominous.
Now, Eternal Death steps forward to compile two hard-to-find demos - Svartskogen, svartvinter... and Dødssted...
, both originally released last year - on one long-playing format, and Vintlechkeit's first-ever vinyl treatment. Here, the dense-yet-spacious blizzard of the band's paradigmatic sound is emblazoned across jet-black vinyl grooves: together, across four songs split evenly on two sides, are 32 minutes of obsidian might & melancholy. References can surely be made to the influential Paysage d'Hiver, but Vintlechkeit's brand of strangely shimmering cryogenics imparts a uniquely bittersweet character; their melodicism no doubt grim, but the nightsky mysticism across these four epic-length landscapes is strangely comforting, glacial as they all may be. And the trio are equally skilled at enveloping the listener in extended, all-ambient passages...
Surely, this compilation LP will expose Vintlechkeit to a wider audience. Peer deeply into the cover of Svartskogen, svartvinter... / Dødssted... and know what awaits...
