“Already among the most talked about releases in the genre this year” - GhostCultMag.com
“The band is unafraid to add in speed or throw in tasty licks to mix it up, but maintains an oracular precision in knowing exactly how long the brutalizing crawl of their bread-and-butter sludge riffs should last for maximum impact” - InvisibleOranges.com
“groove death masterwork” - DoomLoomings.com
After much anticipation, Maryland doom YATRA has released their second album, Blood of the Night, today with STB Records. The release follows months of build up and a steady string of critical praise leading to the record’s debut. The band is celebrating the album’s arrival with the release of a new music video for the song “Sorcerer.” Watch below.
“SORCERER” MUSIC VIDEO:
The Obelisk once stated, “YATRA have the potential to lead a revival of nastier, more brutal sludge in the U.S.” Well, consider this a goddamn resurrection. The power trio, made up of Dana Helmuth on vocals and guitar, Maria Geisbert on bass and Sean Lafferty on drums have created one of the most vicious and vile doom records that’s come out in years.
PURCHASE/STREAM BLOOD OF THE NIGHT:
http://smarturl.it/yatra-botn Hot on the heels of their 2019 debut, Death Ritual, YATRA completed four US tours in 2019 alone, including Monolith on the Mesa, Electric Funeral, SXSW, New England Doom Fest, Grim Reefer and Descendants of Crom, as well as a three week European tour including performances for massive audiences at Desertfest Belgium, Hostsabbat, Into the Void and Setalite amongst others. Along the way they’ve shared the stage with Sleep, EyeHateGod, Uada, Torche, Om, Conan, Big Business and Nebula to name a few. Just in the last year...
With absolutely no sign of slowing down, the band takes no breathe as they soldier on into 2020 with a new record and plans for another year of relentless touring.
