Canada’s rising extreme metal force Eaten By Sharks are preparing to unleash their most ambitious and punishing material to date with the release of their new single “Capsized” on May 30, 2026. The track serves as the first glimpse into the band’s upcoming full-length album The Undertow Of Hate, arriving July 17, 2026 via CDN Records.

Blending progressive death metal, technical precision, crushing groove, and deathcore aggression, Eaten By Sharks continue evolving beyond the sound established on their 2022 release Eradication. With The Undertow Of Hate, the band embraces a more composition-focused and cinematic approach, building a dark conceptual journey rooted in nautical horror and psychological collapse.

“Capsized” marks the beginning of that descent.

The single captures the exact moment where calm waters give way to total chaos, setting the tone for an album built around transformation, destruction, and irreversible change at sea. Musically, the track showcases the band’s signature blend of polyrhythmic riffing, odd time signatures, relentless groove, and controlled aggression, all tied together with a strong sense of flow and atmosphere.

We took time to fully immerse ourselves in the writing process and build a cohesive concept rooted in a single cinematic moment of horror.

The record follows a journey that begins in calm, descends into chaos at sea, and ultimately returns to where it started, transformed into something darker and irreversible.

Throughout the album, subtle thematic details and visual elements tie directly into the overarching concept, creating a unified experience between the music and the artwork. Musically, we push further into the sound we’ve become known for, blending polyrhythms, odd time signatures, and crushing grooves while always prioritizing flow and momentum between ideas.

Working again with producer Christian Donaldson helped tighten the performances and bring out the best in the material. The Undertow Of Hate represents some of our most focused and punishing work to date. It is heavy, groovy, and constantly evolving without losing coherence.”
