Quebec City, Canada — Canadian technical death metal visionaries OBVURT have just released their brand-new music video for “Patience” , now streaming exclusively via Brutal Mind . Filmed by Louis-Martin Laberge in June 2024, this stunning video captures a moment of pure innovation in extreme metal — the debut song written by guitarist/vocalist Philippe Drouin using his revolutionary double-guitar .

Originally intended as a solo project, “Patience” became the first piece in what would evolve into OBVURT’s forthcoming 2025 full-length, An Alternate Dimension — an album that splits its intensity between two worlds: four tracks written and performed on the double-guitar , and five composed on Philippe’s left-handed setup , a skill he relearned after a career-threatening injury.

“ Patience was the first song I ever wrote with the double-guitar,” says Drouin. “It represents persistence — rebuilding myself as a musician and pushing death metal into uncharted territory. No chugs, no tremolos — just hammer-ons and pull-offs. It’s not just technique; it’s survival through creativity.”

Featuring Philippe Drouin on guitars/vocals and Dany Araya on drums, “Patience” is both an artistic statement and a technical masterclass, balancing intricate fretwork with devastating rhythm and emotional depth.
