Matt Miller, the acclaimed architect of technical death metal brutality, has returned with a vengeance. His latest single, “Descent into Violence,” is a blistering and emotive introduction to his seventh studio album, Fiber Tormentum , set for release on September 12, 2025 via Exitus Stratagem Records .

Shattering boundaries and expectations, “Descent into Violence” signals a bold evolution in Miller’s sonic approach. Known for his jaw-dropping instrumental compositions, Miller now enters new terrain with a full-band lineup , bringing in Jordan Kelso (drums, synth), Justice Robinett (bass), and Biko Wright (vocals). A conceptual sci-fi narrative , the album imagines a future where extraterrestrial entities genetically manipulate humanity , subverting our species from within. This chilling tale is enhanced by the stunning album artwork created by the late Joshua Nassaru Ward of Voraath, whose haunting visual legacy adds gravity to the already rich concept.

Musically, the album spans the brutal intensity of bands like Necrophagist and Spawn of Possession , while also pulling from the atmospheric and progressive tendencies of Devin Townsend and Rivers of Nihil .
