Blending raw emotion with dynamic contrast, “Drown In Your Promises” captures the pain of recurring betrayal and the emotional cycles we find ourselves trapped in. With poetic lyricism and rich metaphor, classical vocalist Talia Hoit uses the imagery of floods and storms to symbolize heartbreak and repeated disappointment. Guitarist and heavy vocalist Richard Marcus delivers a powerful counterpoint, portraying the antagonist in a dramatic vocal dialogue that heightens the song’s tension.
“This song is about broken promises, and falling into a repetitive cycle,” the band shares. “Talia developed the lyrical concept through metaphors of water cycles—evaporation, flood, rain—while Richard crafted the harsh vocals from the perspective of the antagonist. The dual vocal exchange reflects an emotional dialogue, representing the conflict at the heart of the song.”
Beyond Forgiveness will also be taking the stage at the SouthWest Power Fest on September 20 in El Paso, Texas , bringing their unique fusion of symphonic metal, extreme metal, and orchestral drama to life in front of a live audience.
Formed in 2014 by death metal guitarists Greg Witwer and Richard Marcus , Beyond Forgiveness evolved into a full band after teaming up with classical vocalist and orchestrator Talia Hoit , along with drummer Sean Rogers and bassist Jim Lasselle . Known for their dramatic style dubbed “ beautality ,” the band combines soaring melodies with crushing metal riffs, offering storytelling as grand as the music itself.
From their 2016 debut EP The Ferryman’s Shore to their acclaimed full-length albums The Great Wall (2017) and Live to Tell the Story (2019), Beyond Forgiveness has continued to expand the boundaries of symphonic metal. Their upcoming 2025 release promises to take that evolution even further, delivering rich narratives, classical instrumentation, and the visceral impact of extreme metal.
