FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
A Fierce New Chapter in Death Metal, Born from Collapse and Rebirth
Monterrey, Mexico - Fresh off a crushing tour across Mexico alongside extreme metal titans Cryptopsy , Atheist , and Medical Negligence , Monterrey’s own Spit On Your Grave (S.O.Y.G.) emerges with a powerful new single and video: “The Heretic” , released Thursday, May 15th.
The tour, which saw S.O.Y.G. dominate stages across the country and share their unrelenting energy with legions of Death Metal fans, was in support of their latest full-length album Arkanum , released via Concreto Records . Now, with the dust settled, the band delivers a bold and introspective new visual statement.
Inspired by the Tarot card The Tower and a deeply personal experience of inner collapse, “The Heretic” tells the story of an identity crumbling under the weight of false beliefs. It is the anthem of a soul awakening amidst the ruins of its own kingdom—confronting the anguish of truth, denial, and guilt. This moment of spiritual demolition gives birth to a heretical self: marginalized, defiant, and determined to rebuild from the ashes. Raw, intense, and emotionally charged, the track marks a daring new phase for the band.
With Arkanum and now “The Heretic,” Spit On Your Grave solidifies their standing as one of Mexico’s most vital Death Metal forces. Formed in 2012, the band has previously shared stages with icons like Cannibal Corpse , Nile , Sepultura , and Cattle Decapitation , and continues to push the boundaries of extremity and introspection.
