I recently discussed an album by a Brazilian band called “ Viking Zombie ”. Here comes the next one from this South American country. Ignited come from the south of the country. The city of Balneário Camboriú is located on the Atlantic coast and was only founded in July 1964. Ignited was born in 2017. In the same year, the debut EP with two songs was released. At the beginning of November this year the debut album “Steelbound” followed, which is distributed in-house. The band names Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Rammstein as influences. This mix sounds extremely interesting. So it was almost a must to listen to this album.

131411The album starts with a play on the band name Ignited. “Ignition” lives up to its name. The Brazilians actually set off a Power Metal fireworks display that is supposed to cast its spell on us for almost fifty minutes. SingerDenis Lima presents high metal screams in the best Halford style. Musically this also reminds of the early Judas Priest, although the band only works with one guitarist. But this has to do very hard work. In the following, too, the musicians do not allow themselves or the listeners a respite. With “Pain” the singer changes constantly between screams and vocals in medium pitches. And Dalton Castro is always coming up with new, top-class guitar solos. Drummer Maurício Velasco drives his colleagues on again and again. The title song “ Steelbound”. Here you can also hear the woofer Sama Benedet at work, provided that speakers or headphones have good bass reproduction. The dark riffs create a little Black Sabbath feeling. “ Living In The Dark ” follows seamlessly. But already with “ Call Me To Run ” the pace picks up again. After so much power there is a respite. “Times” has some ballad-like features. And is highly melodic. After the rhythmic metal pounding “ ground pounding ” follows a mixture of power ballad and metal anthem. For me, “ Shining Void ” is the best song on the album. The way the album started is how it ends - with high speed metal. With “ Roaring Gears ” and “ Rotting”The circle closes.

“Steelbound” is a parforce ride through classic Power Metal. But the Brazilians not only give full throttle, they also master the quiet tones. And with the exception of Rammstein, all of the influences mentioned can be heard. Ignited, however, are not a simple copy of these bands, but rather prove their independence in their compositions. Four excellent musicians have found each other here to indulge their passion. The result is a great debut album.

For fans of Judas Priest, Manowar, King Diamond

In January of 2017 the musicians Dalton Castro and Maurício Velasco decided to create Ignited, a band with the proposal to play energetic heavy metal with great melodies. To complete the lineup, they invited Denis Lima and Sama Benedet , and together finished the first songs which would become a EP to introduce them to the music scene, but with new ideas flowing it naturally became something bigger and they decided it was time to start the pre-production of a full-length.

Between April and August of 2019 the band went to Estúdio Fusão , a studio owned by Thiago Bianchi (ex-Shaman, Noturnall) , to record “ Steelbound ”, and having Thiago responsible for the production, mixing and mastering. For the artwork they partnered with Gustavo Sazes , a veteran Brazilian artist who previously worked with names like Manowar , Arch Enemy and Morbid Angel

In its lyrics, " Steelbound " addresses different subjects and experiences that are brought to the listener through metaphors, seeking an authentic connection with the fans, giving them the opportunity to make their own personal interpretations of each song.

Ignited ’s debut album delivers energetic and catchy melodies to make fans bang their heads, with a sonority described by critics as “inspired by traditional heavy metal , but with identity and modern approach”. After making it available on digital platforms and release a video and a lyric video, the band signed a deal with Voice Music to make a physical release of the album in Brazil in June of 2020. According to Silvio Golfetti ( Korzus ), the label’s owner: “ Ignited has a captivating sound, with a lot of weight and technique. Made for those who love the best and purest heavy metal !”.
