Shocking Tragedy: Taime Downe’s Fiancée Kimberly Burch Dies in Heartbreaking Cruise Incident
March 7, 2025 – More details have emerged regarding the devastating tragedy that unfolded aboard The 80’s Cruise, involving Taime Downe’s fiancée, Kimberly Burch.
On the fifth day of the week-long cruise, multiple sources have confirmed that Downe and the members of Faster Pussycat remain onboard Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas.
The heartbreaking incident took place on the evening of Sunday, March 2, shortly after Faster Pussycat had performed. Burch tragically went overboard from the couple’s balcony, leading to a frantic search by the ship’s crew just hours after setting sail.
Authorities presume that Burch passed away after falling from the eighth story of the 15-deck ship at approximately 11:00 PM (EST) while the vessel was about 20 miles off the coast of The Bahamas. According to an update on the ship’s Wikipedia page, “The ship stopped for search and rescue, but resumed course several hours later while the Coast Guard continued search and recovery efforts.”
One of Taime Downe’s lifelong friends, Riki Rachtman, has now spoken publicly about the tragedy. The former Headbanger’s Ball host shared an emotionally charged 20-minute message via Facebook Live expressing his grief, frustration, and thoughts on the situation.
Posting at around 2:30 PM (PST), Rachtman titled his video: “I shouldn’t go Live but I’m furious & sickened.” Despite initially hesitating, he ultimately felt compelled to set the record straight, addressing rumors and speculation surrounding the incident.
In his heartfelt message, Rachtman stated:
“Now I’m going to tell you exactly the truth… Kimberly and Taime had a very toxic relationship. They have been fighting a lot. They’ve always fought a lot. A lot of it had to do with drugs and alcohol. Taime loved Kimberly very-very much. Kimberly loved Taime very-very much. However, they fought all the time. That is the true story.”
Clearly shaken, Rachtman continued:
“Kimberly Burch committed suicide. She jumped off the boat and, unfortunately, she did it right in front of Taime.”
“When someone commits suicide, they’re hurting very, very badly. And when they commit suicide, their pain is gone. However, all the people around them suffer an even greater pain.”
“Suicide is a very, very selfish act.”
He also addressed speculation regarding Downe’s involvement:
“For anybody to put any blame on Taime is absolutely disgusting. The fact is, he was exonerated of all charges. If he wasn’t, he’d be in jail. There is video… of her committing suicide, and Taime was cleared of all charges.”
Rachtman’s words painted a devastating picture of what Downe is experiencing:
“How is Taime doing? How do you think he’s doing?” he said in frustration, referencing people who had been asking about Downe’s well-being.
“The woman he has lived with for the last eight years committed suicide in front of him. And I feel horrible for Kimberly, that she was in so much pain that she had to commit suicide. I feel horrible for her friends.”
“Taime did absolutely nothing wrong, but he is going to be scarred for the rest of his life.”
As of press time, neither Taime Downe, Faster Pussycat, The 80’s Cruise, nor Royal Caribbean have issued an official statement regarding the tragedy.
Rachtman and Downe share a deep history, having co-founded the legendary Hollywood nightclub Cathouse in 1986, which eventually led to Rachtman landing his role as the host of Headbanger’s Ball on MTV.
Metal Sludge extends its deepest condolences to Kimberly Burch’s family and friends, as well as support and strength to Taime Downe and the Faster Pussycat family during this incredibly difficult time.
