Bulgarian black metal outfit Bolg is set to release their highly anticipated new album, Where Death Dwells , on December 1, 2025. Recorded in the eerie depths of Basement Crematorium Studio in 2024, and mixed and mastered at Opus Magnum Studio in Brussels by the shadowy Déhà , Where Death Dwells marks a dark and menacing chapter in the band’s evolution.

The album is drenched in atmospheric tension, with each track conjuring visions of haunting landscapes and primal terror. The music was crafted entirely by Bolg in the abyss, with sinister artwork by MiRoN and stark, chilling photographs captured by Lemonade Create . The lyrics, laced with the band's deep disdain for societal and religious structures, draw on local mythology and eerie legends surrounding the band's homeland.

The track "Drachie," inspired by a real wooded area near the band's hometown, perfectly captures the essence of the dark folklore surrounding the area. Locals speak of creatures descending from the mountains, and eerie "glowing eyes" watching from the shadows—an atmosphere that permeates the song and reflects the chilling atmosphere that surrounds Bolg’s music. The cold winds, the whispers of the forest, and the primal fear that grips the locals all serve as a backdrop for this haunting composition.

Bolg was formed in 2003 in the small Bulgarian town of Radomir , with their name derived from Old Bulgarian, meaning "wolf." This symbolizes the untamed, primal spirit that fuels their music. Since their debut split Against the Christian Terror (2004), which featured five tracks and introduced Bolg as a fierce force in the black metal scene, the band has consistently pushed boundaries. Known for blending fast-paced aggression with slow, atmospheric passages, their sound evokes both the ferocity and grandeur of the natural world.

The band's lyrical themes dive deep into local mythology, with a focus on antihuman and antireligious topics. Their music echoes a yearning to return to nature’s raw and untamed forces, rebelling against modern society's constraints.

Bolg's dedication to their craft remains unwavering despite lineup changes over the years. They've shared the stage with legendary acts such as Impaled Nazarene , Grá , and Lucifer's Child , cementing their place as a vital force within the underground black metal scene.
