Founded in Brooklyn in 2013, Clouds Taste Satanic have become one of New York’s most revered underground doom bands, capable of taking listeners on a sinister voyage through the psychedelically charged realms of metal.

The quartet has always had a penchant for harnessing deviant riff wizardry in their progressive approach to music, but none more so than on their next release.

“Anyone who’s experienced CTS knows that for the most part, we’ve always done things our own way,” explains guitarist, Steven Scavuzzo. “The band had been kicking around the Christmas album idea for quite some time and following the release of Tales of Demonic Possession earlier this year, the time seemed right for a project that was a touch lighter in concept.”

That project is a heavy take on some holiday classics, titled All I Want for Christmas Is Your Soul. Featuring reworkings of Mariah Carey’s festive behemoth, ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’; ‘You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch’, ‘Little Drummer Boy’ and a cover of Spinal Tap’s ‘Christmas With The Devil’, as Scavuzzo goes on to point out, “We may be fans of Satan but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy a bit of holiday cheer.”

And what song isn’t improved with a heaped helping of loud guitar? Foreshadowing the release of their new album next March on Majestic Mountain Records, All I Want for Christmas Is Your Soul will be out on the band’s own imprint, Kinda Like Music, which to date has released CTS’s first seven albums, a clutch of seven-inch singles and several reissues.
