How I met the band: After all the melodic and doomy death metal of the last few days, it was time for something brutal again. It was a good fit that Metal Devastation Radio introduced me to this band.

How do I find the record: Already with the first song they show where the journey is going. Fast-paced, groovy Death Metal is on offer here. Just the way I like it: heavy drums, inhuman vocals and leaden riffs that make you feel like you're being run over by a tank. The vocals alternate between dark growls, piq squeals and violent screams. I missed this brutality.

SEVERED HEAD RITUAL starts with a sample before the song stomps through your ears and leaves no head on your shoulders. No wonder they chose this track for the single release. He really has it all.

Conclusion: If you like hard and brutal Death Metal, you'll get what you need here. Seven songs that follow the same line, but are still varied. So listen in, my Deathheads: fullmetalmayhem

Gutted Alive was started in Rochester, NY in 2012 as The Gutted. Ryan Michael (vocals) and Jason Acquilano (guitar, vocals) were shortly joined by Brandon Graves (drums) and Mike Sloma (bass). Shortly before signing to CDN Records they changed to Gutted Alive. Adam Shampine joined on bass in 2017 following Mike's departure. In 2020 Joe Tash replaced Adam, and in 2021 Rick Smith joined on second guitar. Fans of brutally fast riffs and mean grooves; their music is intense and catchy. Now dropping their fourth album titled "Human Taxidermy" with CDN Records, Gutted Alive continues to push forward in the medium and explore macabre subjects.
