If you’re looking for a present for your grandma this winter, turn away now. If you’re someone who’s idea of properly heavy music is something like Slipknot, you won’t like this. This is basically a what’s what of modern extreme Metal subgenres, from Black Metal, to Deathcore, with Speed Metal and Hardcore thrown in for good measure.
This is quite a feat in just 13 minutes and 31 seconds, you’d assume; and it’s sort of accurate. Within the diminutive length, there are examples of different extreme styles, neatly packed into a fairly consistent overarching theme; but there is a catch. In the pursuit of everything extreme, it does fall a little flat when it comes to making actually listenable and entertaining music.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s serious merit here, and it’s not to say the songs aren’t good, (each track is individually a good listen) and it’s certainly impressive for a debut EP, but there’s definitely some work needed to hone their sound into something brilliant; and that’s definitely possible Metal Digest
Release Date: January 6th, 2023
FFO: Early Suicide Silence, Early Cryptopsy, Vomit Forth
Location: South Florida
Short Bio: "Venerate the Disease" was written while we were in our junior year of high school. We take influence 50/50 from a heavier, more abrasive style of old school deathcore, and then from death and black metal. Our sound is relatively unique, but if we had to pinpoint 1 release for the biggest influence on the EP it would be Cryptopsy's album "None So Vile". Riffs reminiscent of such pop up mainly in the tracks "Menticide" and "Altar of Mammon".
