Stealth - Sleep Paralysis - Featured and Interviewed By Pete Devine!
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete's Rock News and Views ( http://petesrocknewsandviews.com )
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
STEALTH: We are 4 guys who like to make music together and have fun in the process. Stealth has been kickin’ for 25 years now and playing a lot of gigs all around Europe, constantly introducing new sounds in every release
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
STEALTH: We are from the central-eastern side of Italy and all of us began studying and playing their instruments as young guys. Music is our passion and we are happy we've been able to play with a lot of bands during the years.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
STEALTH: We'd say Metallica, Iron Maiden and Fear Factory as bands that influenced us a lot during the last decade. But we have obviously been inspired by all the metal and hard rock bands of the 90s and the first decade of 2000s. Also we'd say that we constantly take inspiration from all the underground bands we play with in festivals and venues. About the non-musical influences Ivan(vocalist) loves reading about astronomy and history and we are pretty sure they will be our source of inspiration for our future lyrics. Our new single Sleep Paralysis is about the hypnagogic state and its related phenomena.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
STEALTH: Do what we are doing better and better.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
STEALTH: We have had a lot of them with the band. We often remember our first gig abroad, in Croatia more than 15 years ago or our Latvian or Ukrainian tour at the end of the 10s. And we don't forget our incredible UK tour in 2017. London gigs left us with something special.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
STEALTH: We try to do our best to promote our music via every means possible, from the internet to the old-fashioned radio and internet radios, or social media. So far so good, we’ll be ready for any challenge the future will hold for us. Now we have a deal with MDPR and those guys are really doing a good promotion of our new single.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
STEALTH: Usually, we give links and CDs to venues so that they can listen to our music and if they are interested, they give us a call. We also get invited to festivals sometimes. At the moment we are putting together a tour to promote our new release Sleep Paralysis, coming out Sept. 30 on every streaming platform. Sometimes we collaborate also with some booking agency to organize tour with 2 or more gigs.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
STEALTH: In our honest opinion CDs and vinyl discs are nowadays something only a few people are still buying (i.e., collectors and audiophiles). The average listener is more likely to download or stream music, so as far as no harm comes to the hard work of every people that is involved in the making of a recording, streaming services and online stores are what the public demands and I think they are the perfect solution to the illegal distribution of music.
PD: What song do you wish you'd written and why?
STEALTH: There are a lot We'd say all the 80s and 90s metal hits, best period in the music ever.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
STEALTH: Underground music is underestimated. This is the future of the music and it should have much more space in the media.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
STEALTH: We’re working on a series of new projects and implementing new sounds in our songs, stay tuned for news!
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
STEALTH: You can follow us on social media through linktr.ee/stealthband1997 or directly on www.stealthattack.it to find out all our latest news, releases and purchase CDs and gadgets.
