Hi Rocker, yes, given the current temperatures, the album title “Through the Tempest” would be just right. Who wouldn't want to walk through the storm right now? Through which storm is left undecided. So let's go through the musical storm of the band “Age Of Fire”. “Age Of Fire” is a trio that released this four-track EP in part in 2022.
Greg C. Brown (g), Dynamic (b) and Arnaud Krakowka (dr) will be releasing the well-known titles again in 2023. Wanting to do justice to the style of heavy metal, they create their own style of this genre. In a combination of thrash metal, partly melodic and progressive metal, the guys add symphonic elements.
But let's just do the titles one by one. The opener “Children of the night” could also be a Black Sabbath song. Dark with a ponderous lead guitar and a tragically sounding solo has a very mystical, demonic effect due to the recitative vocals. He reflects on the wolves of Dracula. Full of fear is presented here.
"Mary Celeste" describes the fate of a ship's crew in a melodious way. A real story. Only the cargo was still on board. With the dramatic sounding Voice you become a witness to this mystery again.
“Through The Tempest” takes us through a storm, at least instrumentally. The ups and downs of the waves and the sound of the waves lasted almost three minutes. In this confusion, the voice is missing and is not appropriate here either. The guitar solo here embodies the masses of water that are ignited by the storm and find abruptly calm in a sudden end.
And finally, we reap what is owned. Namely the “Seeds of Tomorrow”. Even though the musical performance is not too oppressive, the text is very abysmal. The song is based on a lack of empathy, ignored science and veiled facts.
Conclusion: The Age of Fire shows a bleak, doomsday future for humans. Not overly brutal, but with a certain amount of tension that makes one expect a lot. With a mixture of thrash, prog and symphonic metal, they let us participate in a creative doom and gloom for 15 minutes. I rate the album 8 out of 10 Hellfire points . hellfire-magazin
