'Often I don't even look at the country of origin of certain bands', I sometimes hear certain individuals, who call themselves black metal adepts, say. I think this is wrong. By looking at the origin of the tire, you quickly get an idea and you often already know what to expect. It is more difficult when the composition of the band crosses national borders and sometimes several continents. This is also the case with this Thymata . A black metal band signed by Adirondack Black Mass Records, a label that has a special background in itself.

Thymata consists of none other than a Swede, a Greek and an Indonesian. It seems like the start of a special joke. Mr. Michael, also active in Grimtone and Nattmaran , among others, pairs himself again with Kostas B, also active in Grimtone but also in Apocalyptic Leaders . They found Ekay ( Nattmaran ) willing to sit on the drum stool. And so you immediately not only have an international group, you also have an idea of what to expect from a musical point of view.

You can hear the music by Michael. It does have a slightly different character than the music he makes for Grimtone . Kostas B only delivers the vocals on this debut album Embraced By Death . Ekay knows from the first measure, the first beat, what his job entails: clubbing until your tongue hangs out of your mouth. However, he may occasionally let go of the gas. Especially when Kostas B delivers the vocals a bit more layered or appeals to choir-like harmony vocals. According to the record store, for example, Sarkrista and Sargiest are the most obvious influences. In itself he is not really wrong with this. The Salutation of Screaming Spirit's (Lucifer's Light)indeed has a rather Finnish melodic character. At times you hear Mr. Ekay having some trouble with the whole, however this good man, without triggers, does more than his stinking best to deliver a more than decent performance.

And once the last is ready, the shoe often fits perfectly. With this I just want to write that the gentlemen on the rather Finnish track continue. They do this at a rousing pace, the wood shavings smoothly find their way through the air. Mr. Ekay has in the meantime been able to refuel and whips one rhythm after another out of his drum kit. Songs like Abrasions Of Time and Desert Of Dead Souls have become very tasty and catchy songs.

Embraced By Death is a more than pleasant introduction to this international group that calls itself Thymata . A Swede, a Greek and an Indonesian are sitting together in a bar, the Swede says to the other two guys: “Shall we make black metal with a Finnish twist?”. “It's good” the other two say in unison and boom, Thymata is born. Delicious anyway.

The debut album "Embraced By Death" will be out on tape and CD june 16th 2023. Vinyl will follow later. Adirondack Black Mass will release the CD and vinyl! War Productions will release the tape. The music is harsh, yet melodic black metal with multi layerd vocals and choirs. Big and atmospheric one minute, fast and claustrophobic the next. No compromises, only true devotion to the black arts. For fans of: Pure second wave black metal. Both Michael and Kostas B have a long background in the black metal community, having released many albums between them. Michael has written and recorded albums with: Grimtone, Arsonists of Lucifer, Nattmaran, Dommedag, Unholy Tenebris, Sattyg. Kostas B has written and recorded albums with: Apocalyptic Leaders and recently appeared on tracks with Grimtone.

In 2022 Kostas B was asked to join Grimtone as its permanent vocalist. Michael had an album written that didn't fit under the Grimtone banner and Thymata was born. Kostas B added vocals to the music in a new and exciting way, using choirs and multi layered vocal lines, creating an original approach to black metal. Ekay, who plays with Michael in Nattmaran, stepped in and recorded the drums for the album as a session member.
