After about a year and a half we're back to talking about the Canadians Expunged, who with this new "Visions of Agony" bring yet another load of old school Swedish Death Metal from the lands of Ontario. We find some news, even if not musically: from "Into Never Shall" we denote the change of label (from Hells Headbangers to the Canadian CDN Records) and a new drummer (Kaedes instead of KF). For the rest we find expunged exactly where we left them, i.e. with raw sonorities deriving above all from the dawn of the old Swedish Death Metal school: it is no coincidence that in addition to Dismember we can mention other great veterans such as Grave, Carnage and Nihilist as influences of Ours. The point is that even the average quality level of the Expunged's work is exactly what we remembered from the previous work: sufficient, nothing more. The Ottawa trio knows how to play this genre, but following only the teachings of the aforementioned groups; in short, there is a lack of that extra twist that could make the proposal of ours more interesting. Some noteworthy passages here and there can also be found, but in general "Visions of Agony" has all the elements to be one of those works that you listen to, put back on the shelf and then forget about until you are there. the eye falls on.
