Band name and album title: Acherontia Styx with Post Death

Genre: Death Metal

Release date and label: On January 12th, 2023 they released this EP through Dwarrowdelf Records.

Other band releases: It is their second EP, plus five singles and one album.

How did I get to know the band: Metal Devastation Radio sent me their album Shadow and Flame back in late 2020 and I wasn't really excited about it. But now, with this EP, I want to give them another chance.

What do I think of the disc: Here they have followed a consistent style, not like with their album, on which they have probably tried all styles that they think are cool. Something like this can work, but doesn't necessarily have to. I prefer a certain red thread. Nevertheless, they didn't stop experimenting and once again paid homage to Cradle of Filth. The vocals are still on the hoarse side, but it suits the music well. But let's get to my favorite, if there is one:

Yes, there is, namely the opener CLOUD OF WAR. In the mid tempo things get pretty heavy here, maybe a bit very melodic, but all in all the song is good. I particularly like the pounding passages.

Conclusion: Here I clearly see progress in the right direction for me. If you like death lead and don't mind experiments, you should listen here: fullmetalmayhem
