They got noticed three years ago with the debut album "Unused Imaginative Capacity" and they returned on January 6th - just in time for the start of the European tour that sees them opening Monstrosity and Origin - with this new EP from title "Slaying of Sanity/Murder of Mind": we are talking about the Estonian Intrepid, a quintet from Tallinn with a boundless passion for the purest Death Metal made in the USA in their heart. Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal, Obituary, Autopsy, Gruesome, Death, Monstrosity themselves... all these groups played a fundamental role in the development of the sounds of these five north-eastern European guys. And we can very well hear it in the tracks that make up their new EP, composed of three unreleased songs, a cover by Aggressor (Estonian Death Metal band active in the early 90s, unknown to most) and a live recording of the song "Blade of Kurnugi". You find in your hands a disk of just over 1/4 of an hour of Death metal that sounds square and compact and that will surely be able to keep the attention of the many fans of these classic sounds high, in which a fundamental role is played by the pair of axes formed by Simo Atso and Villem Eplik, who both in terms of riffs and solos seem to have studied at the school of mr. Trey Azagthoth. Just listen to "By the Blinding Light" and "Mesmerism" - in which we find a gentleman by the name of Steve Di Giorgio as a guest on bass - to realize this. The Aggressor cover is also on the same stylistic coordinates, while "Abyss of Cataclysm" is essentially a short instrumental interlude; in closing the Intrepid give a taste of their fury on stage with "Blade of Kurnugi": whoever sees them at work in the tour they are engaged in in this period, will have fun. Summing up: obviously don't expect who knows what originality, but we doubt that this is the ultimate intention of Intrepid; "Slaying of Sanity/Murder of Mind" is an averagely satisfying work that could be useful for getting to know a band that, we presume, will not disappoint expectations with the next album. allaroundmetal

Short Bio: INTREPID has been bringing extreme metal to the people of Tallinn, Estonia since 2016. Formed when the members were just 15 years old, their first years of activity culminated in the 2017 EP “Empress of Devastation”, and their 2020 debut album, “Unused Imaginative Capacity”. Soon after, they started collaboration with Alexander & Gunter Ford (manager for acts such as Morbid Angel, Nile) through the company Knife Fight Media. Known locally for their very intense live performances, Intrepid had the privilege to embark on their first European tour in 2023, alongside death metal powerhouses Monstrosity and Origin, to promote their next EP, “Slaying of Sanity/Murder of Mind”, which featured a guest appearance from the legendary bassist Steve Di Giorgio (Sadus, Testament, ex-Death, ex-Control Denied).
