Among the flood of requests for reviews that arrive daily in the editorial office, it happens every now and then that someone goes unnoticed and this is the case of the new album by Thunder Rising, entitled "Back to the time of Rock", released in March 2022 for the Italian label Music for the masses. So I apologize to the band and the label for this delay, the result of extreme randomness. The album consists of eleven tracks (twelve in the CD version, with one bonus track) for a duration of around 40 minutes. The group was born from the mind of our local guitarist Frank Caruso (known for his numerous activities, including Firehouse, Arachnes and Vivaldi Metal Project above all) and has reached its fifth album in about ten years of activity. The sound of the Italian band is a delicious Hard Rock, in the 70s / 80s style, which is very reminiscent of Deep Purple in some passages, also due to the use of the hammond by Enzo Caruso. The rhythm is always sparkling, thanks to a solid performance by the drummer Corrado Ciceri, well accompanied by the bassist Gabriele Baroni; of course the main instrument is the guitar of the leader Frank Caruso who proves once again (as if there were still need) to be a first-rate musician. Two words must necessarily be spent on the singer Alessio Spini, endowed with a warm and expressive uvula, with an extension that appears not indifferent and a high-level interpretative ability; in short, if the musicians of Thunder Rising are of excellent quality, their singer is even better! Although the band refers to the school of the 70s / 80s, it does not fall into the mistake of having an old style production and all the instruments are heard perfectly, together with the splendid voice of the singer. It was a pleasure to listen and listen again to this album, in which there are no fillers or low quality moments; we certainly don't have to go hunting in the dead end tunnel of disquisitions on originality, given that Hard Rock has been like this for over forty years and must remain like this forever! Born from the mind of the Italian guitarist Frank Caruso , known for his numerous projects such as Firehouse , Arachnes and Vivaldi Metal Project above all, superband Thunder Rising is back on the record market with a brand-new album called “Back to the time of Rock”, the Band’s latest studio effort. A rocky, melodic sound, hypertechnical and exquisitely hard rocking: this is Thunder Rising, which since their debut (featuring Mark Boals) on, have always pursued a musical dimension of their own, growing it step after step. “ Back To The Time Of Rock ”, out on March 4th, 2022, will be their first to be released by Music For The Masses . Twelve extraordinary tracks, a real time travel towards the re-discovery of sounds from the past but in a modern key, capable of striking and fascinating any listener. In addition, we’d like to point out a Bonus Track which will only be featured on the cd version and not in the Digital stores: “ Stairs to the top ”. The Band is currently shooting the Videoclip of the first single “ FATE TRAIN ” to be released in the forthcoming weeks.
