Bands don’t always need to hit the ground running with release after release, there is an art to biding your time, waiting to strike when the moment is right. That is the mantra that Slanderus have followed since their 2008 inception and after a steady release of EP’s, the Californian progressive metallers have set themselves up nicely for the release of their debut album ‘Absorbing Infinity’.

Don’t be put off by the mere mention of progressive metal, this isn’t your usual dose of 26-minute tracks meandering keyboard solos and over the top guitar wankery in a time signature that ‘you just wouldn’t understand’. What Slanderus offer here with ‘Absorbing Infinity’ is progressive metal with a thrash and power metal underscore and because of this ‘Cobra Kai’, ‘Omen’ and ‘Espíritu’ really showing that this band has the touch of Nevermore and later Sanctuary, but the Californians aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty with a sound that wouldn’t be out of place with Meshuggah. Furthermore, although this band goes hard, they can also kick it back with some more sublime Dream Theater and Devin Townsend moments, particularly during the laid-back track ‘A Small Sacrifice’.

Arguably, ‘Absorbing Infinity’ is a mismatch of sounds, and it can at times be a difficult listen. However, this album never feels contrived or something which throws a load of sound at a wall and hope something sticks. This is a band comfortable with what they are doing and anyone who likes their progressive metal to take in lots of different sounds will find something enjoyable here. - Metal Digest !

"We are very proud to announce our new album ‘Absorbing Infinity’ is officially done and will be released on April 29th, 2022. As soon as Bryan joined the band, we started talking about working on a new album. Jason had been writing and demoing the songs for this album for years ." - Slanderus

Rehearsals for the new album started in August 2021 and concluded in February 2022. Recording sessions took place at Love Juice Studios in Riverside, CA from February through April 2022.

"With our last album ‘Walls of the Mind’ 5th birthday coming up, we were very eager to get back in the studio and record a new album. We’ve had a lot of setbacks over the last few years, but we didn’t let that stop us. We kept pushing forward and always believed in what we were doing. We are very excited for everyone to hear this album and can’t wait to play these new songs live!" - Slanderus
