Imagine if you will; you’re bundled into a van late at night, and brought to an abandoned warehouse. Inside is videogame soundtrack maestro Mick Gordon. He explains to you, completely truthfully, that he’s never heard Meshuggah’s music, and that he wants you to explain it.

The music he’d eventually create in this theoretical scenario would probably sound a lot like this, a 38-minute jackhammer to the face of low tuned, chugging riffs and powerful kick drums. To even be compared to Mick Gordon is testament to the fantastic production value of this debut release, and comparisons to Meshuggah leave no illusions about the technical brilliance of 777mecha (pronounced triple-seven-mecha, by the way); It’s a crushingly brutal technical tour de force with serious intent.

A little variety would potentially be a cherry on top here, as a few tracks are difficult to distinguish without consistent listening, but this is absolutely a top class first effort from this one-man Djent outfit - Metal Digest
