Risingfall were born in 2014 in Tokyo and, after a handful of EPs and various singles, release this year the debut album, simply titled "Rise or fall", thanks to the German Dying Victims Productions (label rarely dedicated to certain sounds), both in digital format, as well as in CD and vinyl, with also a special edition with blue vinyl and various inserts. The album consists of eight tracks lasting only about 35 minutes, with pleasant artwork. The record is linked to a tragic event, given that during the recordings the guitarist Yoshiki died, to whose memory the full-length is dedicated; the band was on the verge of disbandment but, by the will of the family of Yoshiki himself who interpreted the wishes of his beloved late, the Risingfall activity has continued and now the new guitarist Oyatata has joined him in his place. But let's get to the music, Risingfall play a very classic Speed / Heavy Metal, as was fashionable in the last millennium; the Japanese arrive, therefore, a moment late on the current trends, but it seems quite evident to me that they do not give a damn about these topics, because their desire is to play the music they love, regardless of what fashions or trends are of the moment. So if you are nostalgic of the sounds of the past, surely this "Rise or fall" will suit you, since it is objectively well played and sees the guitars as the main instrument, with pleasant solo parts ("Arise in the ashes" above all); for the genre played, the drums also play a fundamental role, even if the good Yuki is a bit penalized by a production that can certainly be improved (the snare drum, for example, I don't like how it sounds at all!). The bass, on the other hand, plays in the background and perhaps could have given a greater contribution, with a little more protagonism. Songs like the very fast closing "Master of the Metal" or the equally fast opener "Kamikaze", to get to the self-congratulatory "Risingfall" or the singular "Rock fantasy", will surely meet the favor of fans of this particular genre of Metal. If, on the other hand, you do not deeply love the old school, you would most likely do better to direct your investments elsewhere. Risingfall with this "Rise or fall" make their debut surely snatching the pass; for the future, however, most likely something more will be needed, at least in terms of personality, if one does not want to remain confined to the underground. - All Around Metal

FFO: Riot, Savage Grace, Anthem, Satan, Vicious Rumors

An 80's style heavy metal band formed in Tokyo in 2014. They have produced several singles and EPs and this is their first album. Recording was finished in 2021, but then one of the original guitarists, Yoshiki, passed away in February 2022. Although he passed away, the band never stopped as he himself wanted the band to continue. The band is influenced by mid-period Satan, early Vicious Rumors, NWOBHM and hard rock.
