Darconigan  are  a  band  from  Rye,  Colorado  that  plays  a  very  epic  and  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  demo  "Helm,  Shield  And  Spear".

  A  very  dark  sound  starts  off  the  demo  while  you  can  also  hear  all  of  the  musical  instrument's  that  are  present  on  the  recording.  Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  melody  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  lot  of  blast  beats  can b e  heard.

  The  music  also  adds  in  a  great  amount  of  death  metal  elements  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  A  lot  of  the  music  is  also  heavily  influenced  by  the  90's  era  along  with  a  couple  of  the  tracks  also  being  very  long  and  epic  in  length  as  well  as  some   growls  also  being  utilized  at  times.

  Darconigan  plays  a  musical  style  that  takes  the  melodic  forms  of  black  and  death  metal  and  mixes  them  together  to  create  a  sound  of  their  own.  The  production  sounds  very  old  school  while  the  lyrics  cover  darkness,  war  and  fantasy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Darconigan  are  a  very  great  sounding  epic  and  melodic  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "It  Comes"  and  "Enrapturing  Dark".  8  out  of  10. - ADifferentShadeOfBlackMetalZine
