      Well wouldn’t you know it, the internet has other uses apart from endlessly scrolling social media and watching pornography. Musicians are able to use it to make contacts well beyond what would have been the norm 30, even 20 years ago. Formed by being one half from Armenia and the other half Sudan, Nhialic have been working together to create and release ‘Medz Yeghern’ their debut EP of black metal.

                With ‘Medz Yeghern’, Nhialic show that they are already far from the stereotypical black metal group. Sure, they’ve got the blast beats, tremolo picking and demonic shrieks synonymous with the genre, but this is a band which do not deliver the same lyrical tropes wheeled out over and over again by black metal. There are no church burnings here, no endless nihilistic Satanic wankfests or some provocative world view designed to incite the right wing. No, what ‘Medz Yeghern’ delivers are well thought out lyrics surrounding historical events with tracks such as ‘Der Herbst’, ‘Painting Revenge’ and the title track being just examples from an EP which takes in subject matter like the Armenian Genocide, Artemisia Gentileschi and Cornell Woolwich’s ‘Waltz Into Darkness’ with Nhialic having all the driving power of Watain, Old Man’s Child as well as the melodic elements of Dissection.

                On the surface, ‘Medz Yeghern’ may not be different to many of its peers but dig beneath this lo-fi black metal production and the listener will find a band doing something a little different and it’ll be interesting to see how Nhialic approach their next release. - Metal Digest

NHIALIC is an international black metal duo based in Sudan / Armenia. Mainly influenced by acts such as Dissection, Old Man's Child and Watain , members Animae (vocals / guitars / bass) and Corpus (drums / synth) teamed up mixing cultures of each other homeland; infact, while band name NHIALIC name comes from Dinka religion (Sudan), title of the release comes from a "Big Evil Crime" (Medz Yeghern) made by Ottoman Empire better known in history as "Armenian Genocide". NHIALIC debut EP involves different themes such as History, Literature and off course Darkness.

Being more specific:
- History ("Painting Revenge" talks about italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi while "Medz Yeghern" talks about 
Armenian Genocide)
- Literature (lyrics "Waltz Into Darkness" are inspired from Cornell Woolrich's novel from 1947)
- Darkness ("Underworld Supremacy")

This release feat. also, an instrumental track ("Der Herbst", which stands per "The Autumn" in German language) which is a tribute to band favorite season. NHIALIC published two singles before the EP release
