That's what I call courageous. An instrumental EP is nothing everyday and instrumental albums have a bland aftertaste anyway. But Madame Gia Federico, also called GIA G., when she is on the road with her instrumental project, already presents her second release. In 2019 she probably had a release with the title ́The Ladder ́ at the start. On ́Cosmic Wave ́ you act as a trio, with Madame being responsible for the guitar and keyboards. There is no question that she can play. The three numbers are neatly arranged, sound rich and look excellently played. Stylistically, there is rock with a considerable jazzy influence. And yet it all seems quite fluid and loose. The of self-expression are limited, one harmonizes with the rest of the instruments rather than fighting against them, which is common practice with quite a few string acrobats. The title track immediately convinces with a brisk upbeat, whereas ́Reminiscing ́ is a semi-acoustic number. ́Intricate Fusion ́ is an interesting piece that convinces with a great guitar work and multi-layered rhythms and tempos and also proves that instrumental music can also have its charm. The ' Cosmic Wave EP ' is the latest release for Gia Federico’s solo instrumental project Gia G and the first since 2019’s The Ladder. The new EP is her best to date and takes her music in a different direction and higher level. Showcasing her diverse prowess on the frets, with jazz modal and scalar legato featuring in Intricate Fusion and Cosmic Wave , to the acoustic slap song, Reminiscing, which shows another side of her style with a great feel, bluesy runs and phrases. Cosmic Wave takes the listener on a journey of musical knowledge, intricate writing, great for listening when you're in your car breezing down the highway.
