A compilation album for the band's anniversary has long since established itself in the business as a special gift to the loyal fan community. There are countless examples of this, regardless of whether you mention well-known names or orient yourself in the underground. Such a release is especially commendable when the band starts with such a work for the first time ever, and can also celebrate really impressive anniversaries.

Both apply to the South Tyrolean Recken of SKANNERS, who release a 16-song record unmistakably titled "Greatest Hits" on the occasion of their soon to be celebrated 40th anniversary. The fact that the band also declares the 35th anniversary of the release of the first "Dirty Armada" as a party motto fits well into the action. In Italy, the troupe has long been considered a legend, and can look back on shows together with the crème de la crème of the scene (DEEP PURPLE, DIO, HELLOWEEN, MOTÖRHEAD, etc.), but also on a lot of other gigs of various sizes.

Therefore, it can be assumed that the fans of the quintet know how to celebrate "Greatest Hits" accordingly. Internationally, there was never really much to get for SKANNERS, but the albums released in the career were all at least respectfully received, and even weak shows of the men have never been reported in the last four decades. On the contrary, the formation was able to gain a loyal, albeit manageable fan community in other countries. SKANNERS has been able to live quite well with this status for some time, and will probably continue to do so.

Of the will to retire, nothing has been announced so far from the camp of the band. The two founding members Claudio Pisoni (vocals) and Fabio Tenca (guitar), and Walter Unterhauser, who has been part of the line-up for more than 20 years, will keep the business going as long as possible and bring joy. That's a good thing, and thank you very much for that too! Since the entry of "Jungspund" Tomas Valentini on bass in 2013, and the return of Christian Kranauer (who already held the post on drums on the two studio albums "The Serial Healer" (2008) and "Factory Of Steel" (2011) two years ago), there should be no line-up problems at the moment to start recording an eighth studio album with a corresponding wealth of ideas.

If the track 'Under The Grave' included on this anniversary compilation is intended as a foretaste of this, you do not have to worry about a lack of quality from SKANNERS in the future. Because even this new, previously unreleased "treat" makes it clear that SKANNERS knows how to perform traditional sounds in the intersection of hard rock and heavy metal in a dignified way.

Although this was already the case in the beginning, the successful foray through the band's history, which can be made with the help of "Greatest Hits", also shows the development and sophistication gained in writing songs. All you have to do is compare the opener 'TV Shock' (from the '86 debut "Dirty Armada") and the 'The Eye' from the 2019 studio spin "Temptation". Congratulations, gentlemen! The successes and publications so far are impressive! Here's to the next few years! - POWERMETAL

Release Date October 22 2021

FFO: Metal Church, Accept, Helloween

To celebrate the 35th discographic anniversary of the Band and the forthcoming 40th since its formation, Music for the Masses has the honor to announce the agreement with legendary Italian metallers Skanners for the release of their first Greatest Hits which goes through the Band’s whole career. Skanners are with no doubt one of the most important and representative bands of Italian Heavy Metal, one of the few deserving the definition of “Legendary”. Kicking off back in 1982 and debuting in 1986 with “Dirty Armada”, released for a Major Label, the then very active CGD, which also released the following “Pictures of War” in 1988, the Band has ever since kept up its identity and dignity, always far from trend-following and staying true to its Metal Belief, supported by great composition and talent, together with Claudio Pisoni’s voice. These have always been the trademarks of the Band. The Greatest hits, produced by Music for the Masses is scheduled for release on October 22nd on cd format and features 16 tracks drawn from the entire rich Band’s repertoire, tracing an actual musical biography which will satisfy die hard fans but will also be able to attract new listeners to their musical craft. And, for this special release, a new, unreleased song entitled “Under the Grave” will be on the album.

The album will be distributed by Egea Music (Italy), Code 7 (Europe), Sleaszy Rider Records (USA), Wormholedeath Japan and Music for the Masses Distro. In addition, it will be available on all digital platforms. The promotion will be taken care by Grand Sounds (Europe), Metal Devastation PR (USA), Mazzarella Press Office (Italy) and Wormholedeath (Japan).
