TONIGHT ON THE ZACH MOONSHINE SHOW: NINJAWITCH & SUMMONER'S CIRCLE!
Tonight on Metal Devastation Radio, we're getting cosmic, cranking up the doom, and diving deep into the underground with Herb Himes and John Wesley Springer of NINJAWITCH, fresh off their appearance at Delta Doom Fest!
But that's not all. Herb and John are also members of SUMMONER'S CIRCLE, the Knoxville, Tennessee, metal force that recently returned from the road with stories to tell and a brand-new live release to unleash!
From psychedelic doom and space-rock atmospheres to epic darkness and crushing extreme metal, these two musicians are involved in projects that explore different corners of the heavy underground. Tonight, we're catching up on everything that's been happening, looking back at the festival, talking life on the road, and finding out what's coming next for both bands.
TWO BANDS. TWO MUSICAL WORLDS. ONE NIGHT OF UNDERGROUND METAL!
NINJAWITCH: SPACE IN YOUR FACE!
NinjaWitch brings together psychedelic atmosphere, heavy riffs, cosmic exploration, and the kind of fuzz-drenched heaviness that calls back to the spirit of classic stoner rock and doom.
The band's EP Frequency of Gods introduced listeners to its expansive sound, featuring the track "Star Ghost," which premiered during the band's previous appearance on The Zach Moonshine Show in August 2025.
During that interview, the band discussed recording together in the same room to capture the natural chemistry and energy of their live performances. Guitarist Herb Himes also shared stories about the musical experiences that inspired him to pick up the guitar, including seeing Randy Rhoads perform shortly before his tragic death and witnessing Ozzy Osbourne during the legendary Diary of a Madman tour.
Now, with NinjaWitch fresh off its appearance at Delta Doom Fest, we're catching up with Herb and John to hear how things have been going, revisit the band's cosmic approach to heavy music, and find out what the future holds.
SUMMONER'S CIRCLE: THE SHAPE OF DARKNESS LIVE!
Herb and John also bring their musical firepower to Summoner's Circle, the Knoxville-based band known for its epic doom metal and dark, theatrical approach to heavy music.
The band recently returned from touring and has released a new live EP, The Shape of Darkness Live, available now!
Released July 13, 2026, the three-track release captures performances recorded during the band's 2025 Shape of Darkness Tour, preserving the raw energy of the group's live performances.
The release features:
- "Apostle's Dogma/Cult of the Dead Sun"
- "Chaos Vector"
- "Apostasy"
With live audio engineering by Richie Brannon and mixing and mastering by Jacob Daniel Potter at Groove Bounce Audio, The Shape of Darkness Live offers listeners a snapshot of Summoner's Circle onstage.
Tonight, we'll get into the band's recent touring experience, the stories behind the live release, and what comes next for Summoner's Circle.
