Minneapolis’ sludgegaze band FORMER WORLDS has released their long-awaited debut album, “Iterations of Time,” today with Init Records. Years in the making, “Iterations of Time,” has finally come to full fruition and it’s well worth the wait. Featuring massive songs, in sound and length, the bands bends genres and blends influences of doom, sludge, shoegaze and post-metal for record that surpasses expectations and redefines the laws and logic of doom metal.
What critics are saying...
“While ear-shredding distortion and delay-laden interludes don’t always fit together in interesting ways, here they’ve been woven into an enjoyable dissonance with a vocal element that sets Iterations of Time very far apart from innumerable other attempts.” - InvisibleOranges.com
“The contributions unfold into long-form majesty. Swaths of doom and lighter, ambient passages coalesce into what the band and press call sludgegaze.” - MetalInjection.net
“This is the first major step for a band that seems to have all of their momentum and hopes ahead of them, and it’s one we know we’ll be revisiting throughout this year and beyond.” - MeatMeadMetal.com

https://formerworlds.bandcamp.com/album/iterations-of-time Following their inception in late 2015, the quartet, which at the time consisted of Mike Britson (bass), J.J. Anselmi (drums), Boone Julius (vocals/noise) and Erin Severson (vocals) started playing shows and soon after released their debut EP: one 20-minute song called Photos of Eve IX-XVI. The singular track is comprised of multiple sections, each peppered with odd time signatures and unexpected changes.
After additional touring throughout the Midwest, Former Worlds buckled down to finish writing its debut LP, Iterations of Time, which will be released on January 31 through Init Records. During the recording, Anselmi and Julius amicably parted ways with the band, while Severson and Britson charged onward, recruiting Eric Anderson (drums) into the fold, who helped finish the remaining instrumentation for Iterations of Time in summer of 2018.
Since then, Former Worlds has played shows with YOB, Cloud Rat, Bell Witch, The Chasm, Serial Hawk, Woman is the Earth, and several other mighty bands. With no signs of slowing down, the band is currently working on material for a second full-length record.
