Founded by John Rackowski with instrumental recordings dating all the way back to 2003, it was ten years later in 2013 when the first EP titled "(d)anger" was officially released. At seven songs, "(d)anger" was an introduction to the wide range of elements rock / hard rock elements to be explored in the coming years. Later that same year, the full-length follow up titled "Love and War" was released. In 2016, "Infliction" was released and marked the end of the instrument/solo era for Litost.
In September of 2018, writing and recording of a fourth release began. With 1700 miles separating them, John partnered up with vocalist Matt Smith through the luck of an answered Craigslist ad, and the duo went on to release "Colony" on April 5th, 2019. John & Matt recorded the entire album before the two ever met in person.
Since then, John was relocated from Las Vegas back to Wisconsin and Matt has become the permanent voice of Litost.
On October 4th, 2019, Litost released their covers EP titled "Projections" which puts their alternative metal stamp on songs that influenced them as the musicians they are today.
John & Matt write, record & produce every aspect of their music from each of their home studios in Wisconsin.
