This weekend, heavy music blog Alternative Control released its second collection of 2019: the AltCtrl Spring Sampler. While their last release, Volume Doom, was centered around a single genre, this one pulls from black metal, horror punk, hardcore, stoner metal, and more. The blog is especially excited to feature a track from depressive black metal frontrunners Bethlehem, courtesy of Prophecy Productions.
Says blog editor Jessie May, "We got a great response from Volume Doom and while it wouldn't be practical to do something of that scope two months later, the compilations are another way we can bring underground music to Alternative Control's readers. All the bands on this release have either been reviewed on AltCtrl over the last few months, or band members have written guest columns. I'm definitely taking a page from FuzzHeavy founder Marcus Pruisner, who's been building a supportive community in the stoner metal scene through Fuzzheavy's digital samplers. I'm also incredibly humbled that these bands -- some from my own backyard, some from across the country or even other continents! -- would contribute their music to help support the blog."
