TEMPLUM SILVA CHALLENGE THE ACCEPTANCE OF SUFFERING ON NEW ALBUM TO LEAVE BEHIND THE GIVEN
Templum Silva invite listeners to question the realities they have been taught to simply accept with the release of their new album, To Leave Behind the Given , released August 20, 2026. Blending melodic death metal, progressive metal, and post-metal , the album presents a dark and introspective exploration of suffering, despair, existence, and the human tendency to rationalize the circumstances of life.
Written and recorded entirely by Yovan Parlikov , To Leave Behind the Given is built around a conceptual framework and additional lyrics contributed by Denislav Nedyalkov . Rather than treating suffering and misery as unavoidable components of some predetermined universal order, Templum Silva challenge the idea that human beings should simply accept the uglier aspects of existence because they are considered necessary or inevitable.
The album's central philosophy confronts a familiar human tendency: to explain difficult events by convincing ourselves that they happened for a reason, or that things unfolded exactly as they were supposed to. While such thinking can provide a sense of order, To Leave Behind the Given questions whether accepting that supposed order actually allows us to overcome suffering, or simply teaches us to swallow it.
"Reality is not a shared totality and is not predetermined by it."
That concept sits at the heart of Templum Silva's latest work. To Leave Behind the Given asks listeners to reconsider the assumptions placed upon existence and to recognize that suffering does not necessarily need to be justified simply because it exists.
Musically, the album's combination of melodic death metal, progressive elements, and post-metal atmosphere provides a fitting foundation for those themes, moving between heaviness, complexity, and darker expansive passages. The result is an album that approaches extreme metal not simply as an outlet for aggression, but as a vehicle for confronting difficult questions about existence and the ways people make peace with things they perhaps should not accept.
The album was mastered at Silent Observer Studio by Tomáš Svoboda , with artwork created by Nini Taneva .
