Severed Sun Announce New Studio Album Complexities of Conflict

Central Florida heavy hitters Severed Sun are set to return with their third full length studio album, Complexities of Conflict , a release that pushes deeper into their signature blend of groove, aggression, and melody while carving out new sonic territory. Release date is currently listed as TBD.

Rooted in the Orlando and Clermont music scenes, Severed Sun have built a reputation over more than a decade of relentless live shows, tight musicianship, and a sound that swings from bluesy hard rock swagger to down tuned sludge, speed driven metal, and atmospheric clean passages without losing its edge.

The band features Kevin (guitars), Ricky (guitars), Rod (vocals), Daryl (bass), and Gavin (drums). Together they continue to refine a sound built on hook driven riffs, strong vocal range, and blistering lead work that hits just as hard in a club as it does on record.

About the New Record

Complexities of Conflict marks the band’s third studio release and follows their earlier EPs Strength Judged By Power and Catacombs , the latter released worldwide through Metal Scrap Records .

A band statement on the record sums it up plainly:

“This will be the 3rd studio album release from Severed Sun, featuring explorations of new directions, familiar grooves, and even more brutal but memorable riffs.”

If the past releases were about proving impact, this new chapter is about expanding it. Expect heavier lows, sharper hooks, and a wider emotional range without losing the grit that defines the band.

Live Legacy

Severed Sun are no strangers to the road. Their touring history includes the Last Rites Tour in 2018 and the Call to Arms Tour in 2024, both stretching across the U.S. east coast and landing them on stages in 11 states, including legendary stops like Dingbatz in Clifton, NJ and The Rooster in Gastonia, NC.

Over the years, they have shared stages with acts such as Quiet Riot, Green Jellÿ, Madam Mayhem, The D.O.O.D., From Blue to Grey, Meka Nism, F.I.L.T.H., Murderfly, and SoulSwitch, proving their ability to hold their own alongside both legacy and rising names in heavy music.

Fans of classic and modern heavy music will find familiar ground here. Severed Sun draw from the raw weight of Black Sabbath , the groove aggression of Pantera , the melodic precision of Iron Maiden , and the modern punch and swagger of Black Label Society , blending it into something that sits comfortably in today’s heavy music landscape while still respecting the roots.
