Austria’s rising groove-metal outfit My Dark Fate has kicked off a pivotal new chapter with back-to-back singles showcasing the band’s revamped lineup and sharpened sound. The winter 2025 single “Whiteout” dropped November 14, 2025, with a follow-up release “Frightened to the Core” landing January 2, 2026 to mark the new year. Additional singles are slated for release throughout 2026, with music videos planned for Q2.

Blending the weight of modern groove metal with melodic death-metal roots, My Dark Fate finds its sweet spot in contrast. Seven-string riffs grind beneath a dual-vocal attack where guitarist Stefan delivers guttural aggression while bassist Marina answers with clean, soaring hooks. The rhythm section, anchored by drummer Christian , keeps everything locked tight while guitarist Andreas drives the songwriting with decades of experience in the Austrian metal scene.

Fans of Lacuna Coil, Jinjer, In Flames, Amaranthe and newer Arch Enemy will feel right at home.

THE SINGLES

“Whiteout” — Released November 14, 2025

To usher in the winter season, My Dark Fate unveiled “Whiteout,” a dark, cinematic metal ballad steeped in cold atmosphere and emotional tension. Written by Andreas Maierhofer and Herbert Sopracolle, the piece lived dormant for years until Marina added lyrics and melody inspired by her father’s extreme survival treks across Alaska’s 1,000-mile Iditarod Trail , where temperatures and terrain push human endurance to the breaking point. The result is an icy, slow-burning anthem meant to seep into the bones.

“Frightened to the Core” — Released January 2, 2026

The band opened 2026 on a high note with “Frightened to the Core,” a punchier, upbeat blend of groove metal and melodic death metal. Composed by Andreas, with lyrics penned by Stefan in his debut lyrical contribution, the track digs into modern fear-mongering and the psychological pressure cooker of contemporary society. Stefan’s growls trade blows with Marina’s harmonies, creating a kinetic call-and-response that keeps the track moving.

Originally founded in 2019 by guitarist and songwriter Andreas Maierhofer (noted for his work in melodic death metal band Lost Dreams ), My Dark Fate released its debut album No Prophecy in December 2022. Following lineup changes and a full reboot in 2025, the band re-emerged stronger and heavier, opening what they consider the true beginning of the project.

A NEW CHAPTER

The dual release of “Whiteout” and “Frightened to the Core” marks the first wave of new material under the rebooted lineup, with more singles planned throughout 2026 and no sign of slowing down. The band is currently independent and self-producing, refusing to compromise creative control.

All recording, production, mixing and mastering is handled in-house by Andreas Maierhofer , with management also overseen internally.
