Punks of the Empire Share Studio Update on Upcoming Album — “Heavier, Bolder, and Mud-Heavy as Ever”

Akureyri, Iceland – November 27, 2025 — Icelandic metal outfit Punks of the Empire have unleashed a behind-the-scenes studio update, giving fans their first glimpse into the creation of the highly anticipated follow-up to their acclaimed album Gehenna .

Recorded at Studio TONak , the new material is shaping up to be a storm of crushing riffs and melodic undertones that define the band’s signature sound. The studio report, shared on the band’s official social media, features drummer Hinrik Þór Einarsson tracking drums for five brand-new songs with guitarist Hörður Halldórsson and engineer Haukur Palmason behind the console.

“A weekend well spent in the studio recording drums for five songs — the well-deserved follow-up to our last album, Gehenna ,” the band posted. “Hinrik blasted through it like a champ while Hörður and Haukur worked the console. We can’t wait to share it with you — it’s mud-heavy and super melodic.”

Frontman Hörður Halldórsson hints that the upcoming record will push boundaries while staying true to their roots:

“I can promise you pretty heavy but genre-bending tunes. We’re recording three new songs and two covers from very different directions. We’ve been writing since Gehenna , and these tracks are taking us somewhere new. We’re still very much metal, but the tone has evolved.”
