Metal fans, get ready to light up your screens: Paramount Plus is bringing the legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne back into the spotlight with a feature-length documentary chronicling his final years. Ozzy: No Escape From Now will be available to stream starting October 7.
Directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Tania Alexander (Gogglebox) and produced in close collaboration with the Osbourne family, the two-hour documentary dives deep into the last six years of Ozzy’s life. It covers the period following his serious fall at home in February 2019, which ultimately led to his retirement from touring in 2023.
Fans will get an intimate look at Ozzy alongside his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, as well as their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. The documentary doesn’t shy away from the real-life struggles of the Prince of Darkness, including his health battles, while also spotlighting the creative process behind his final solo albums: 2020’s Ordinary Man and 2022’s Patient Number 9. It also captures his triumphant performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, a hometown moment that proved he could still command a stage despite his challenges.
No Escape From Now also covers pivotal events like Ozzy’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction in September 2024 and the buildup to his farewell concert, Back To The Beginning, at Birmingham’s Villa Park in July 2025. This show reunited Ozzy with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the first time since 2005. Tragically, Ozzy passed away from a heart attack on July 22, less than two weeks after the monumental concert.
The documentary features appearances from some of rock and metal’s finest, including Duff McKagan and Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers).
This will mark the first official full-length Ozzy Osbourne documentary released after his death, giving fans a raw, unfiltered look at the man behind the myth. Earlier this year, the BBC planned to air an hour-long documentary titled Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home on August 18, but it was pulled to respect the family’s wishes.
