Cathode U.L.T Heads Back to the Studio for 3rd EP – Recording Begins October 2025

Kentucky-based sludge crushers Cathode U.L.T are set to return to the studio this October to record their highly anticipated third EP , following a relentless year of touring and live shows across the Midwest and beyond.

Building on the momentum of their first two EPs – Coal-Horse and Orphan Source – both released in 2024, the band is preparing to deliver what they describe as their most expansive and crushing release to date .

Once again, the sessions will be helmed by guitarist/vocalist Sol. E. Williams , with returning co-producer and engineer Josh Ross (Ross Audio) handling the boards. Fans can expect Cathode U.L.T’s signature blend of sludge, doom, punk, and thrash , sharpened and evolved for a new chapter in the band’s discography.

“After a spring and summer of tearing it up onstage, it feels good to bunker down and focus all that energy into the studio,” says Williams. “This record is going to hit harder, dig deeper, and leave a mark.”

The new EP is scheduled for release in early 2026 , with tour dates to follow as Cathode U.L.T. prepares to take their chaos nationwide.

Formed in August 2023, Cathode U.L.T quickly carved out a name in the underground scene with their raw, uncompromising sound that draws from the likes of EyeHateGod, High on Fire, and Napalm Death . Their debut Coal-Horse and follow-up Orphan Source showcased a band unwilling to sit still, constantly writing, recording, and pushing boundaries. With each release, Cathode U.L.T continues to build on their reputation as one of sludge metal’s most promising rising acts.
