Florida’s death metal juggernaut INHUMAN CONDITION return with a vengeance on “ The Betterment Plan ,” the third single from their upcoming full-length album Mind Trap , out June 27, 2025 on Listenable Insanity Records . The track lands alongside a blistering new music video created by Revolt Entertainment , with stunning cinematography by Frank McMahon and Deidra Kling , and editing by McMahon himself.
Relentless, groovy, and intensely personal, “The Betterment Plan” channels Florida death metal’s finest traditions into a defiant anthem against deception and betrayal. “It’s one of my favorite songs on this record,” says frontman and drummer Jeramie Kling . “It’s aggressive and intense, with lyrical content that has very personal meaning for me. We all stand up to bullies from time to time. This song is an anthem against those who pretend to be friends.”
Formed in late 2020, INHUMAN CONDITION is a trio of scene veterans whose collective pedigree reads like a death metal hall of fame: Kling ( Overkill , ex-Venom Inc. , ex-Massacre ), guitarist Taylor Nordberg ( Deicide , Umbilicus , ex-Massacre ), and bassist Terry Butler ( Obituary , ex-Death , ex-Massacre ). The band name pays homage to Massacre’s legendary Inhuman Condition EP from 1992, a nod to their shared legacy and Florida’s pivotal role in extreme music history.
With Mind Trap , the band’s third full-length, INHUMAN CONDITION sharpen their weapons with a thick, sludgy thrash tone and a deepened sense of groove. Following the blistering 2021 debut Rat°God and the crushing sophomore LP Fearsick , their newest material raises the stakes once more. The Panic Prayer EP (2023) kept their momentum burning hot, and their aggressive touring schedule—including appearances alongside Deicide , Vader , Kataklysm , and a stop at the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise —has proven their lethal live capabilities.
“The Betterment Plan” follows previous singles “ Severely Lifeless ” and “ Face for Later ,” both of which hinted at the uncompromising heaviness and personal urgency that define Mind Trap . The album was mixed by Kling and mastered by Nordberg at Smoke & Mirrors Productions in Spring Hill, Florida. The cover artwork—gruesome, surreal, and drenched in metaphor—was created by the ever-reliable Dan “Babe Ruth” Goldsworthy ( Cradle of Filth , Accept , Gloryhammer ), once again capturing the band’s intensity in visual form.
