CRYPTOPSY UNLEASHES THIRD SINGLE “DEAD EYES REPLETE” FROM UPCOMING ALBUM AN INSATIABLE VIOLENCE

The Canadian Death Metal Legends Target the Dark Side of Internet Fame with a Vicious New Track

After three decades of relentless brutality, Canadian death metal icons Cryptopsy show no signs of softening their attack. With the release of “Dead Eyes Replete,” the third single from their upcoming ninth full-length album An Insatiable Violence , the Montreal-based masters of sonic mutilation prove once again why their name remains etched in the annals of extreme metal history.

Set for release later this year, An Insatiable Violence is the band’s first full-length since earning a JUNO Award —Canada’s most prestigious music accolade—for their previous release. But rather than bask in accolades, Cryptopsy have sharpened their knives. “Dead Eyes Replete” is a furious indictment of society's obsession with internet fame, specifically focusing on the disturbing exploitation of child YouTubers.

Watch it here:

“It’s one of the most brutal songs on our new album,” says vocalist Matt McGachy . “It reaches into the depths of the sordid world of YouTube child stars and how parents rob them of their youth and innocence—all in the name of greed.”

Born from a concept McGachy dreamt up—eerily prophetic in hindsight— An Insatiable Violence is steeped in themes of manipulation, digital perversion, and the creeping rot of modern culture. "Dead Eyes Replete" captures this essence in a no-holds-barred assault that blends technical proficiency with gut-punching groove . McGachy’s voice is at its most menacing, thanks in part to over 140 live shows that have helped him refine and deepen his false chord growls.

From the opening seconds, the track launches like a predator from the shadows. Guitarist Christian Donaldson , also the band’s producer and engineer, twists riffs into angular bursts of dissonance, while drum god Flo Mounier unleashes blast beats that hit like aerial bombardments.

“Since our last album, I’ve developed new techniques that allow us to go even faster,” says Mounier. But it’s not just about speed. Tucked within the chaos is a subtle homage to John Bonham —a stomping fill that channels Led Zeppelin’s thunder. “I told Chris we were leaving that part in there. It's the closest we’re ever going to come to sounding like Zeppelin,” Mounier grins.

The brutality is balanced with headbanging rhythm, particularly during the track’s crushing breakdown led by bassist Oli Pinard . As McGachy hisses, “Beware the spotlight,” the band reminds listeners that not all attention is a blessing.

The single is accompanied by a visceral music video created by B2crea , matching the song’s intensity with stark, provocative visuals that mirror the song’s condemnation of corrupted innocence and viral exploitation.

Cryptopsy’s legacy has always rested on their refusal to compromise— An Insatiable Violence continues that tradition, digging deeper into the filth and fury that made them infamous. With “Dead Eyes Replete,” they issue a warning: fame comes with a price, and in this case, it’s childhood.

Dead Eyes Replete is available now on all major platforms.
