Shadows to Unleash Blackened Fury with Debut Album Miseria
Featuring former members of Visceral Bleeding, The Berzerker, Enshrined, and Ominous — out August 29
Germany and Sweden unite in chaos as Shadows , a blackened death metal powerhouse forged in darkness, prepares to release their hellish debut full-length Miseria on August 29 . With deep roots in extreme metal and a lineup featuring former members of Visceral Bleeding , The Berzerker , Enshrined , and Ominous , Shadows is primed to deliver a scorched-earth sonic experience steeped in unrelenting misanthropy.
Recorded across Germany and Sweden, Miseria is a nine-track descent into existential dread, nihilistic atmospheres, and punishing heaviness. The band describes the album as:
"Miseria aims to explore the vast uncaring nothingness and explore the dread of our futile existence. If you are looking for release or redemption you won’t find them here. The album is unmistakably rooted in the Scandinavian black and death metal but delivers it with its own signature. It is crushing and suffocating but also melodic and solemn."
With an arsenal of harrowing riffs, venomous vocals, and intricate arrangements, Miseria captures the bleak spirit of Scandinavian extremity while carving out a unique identity within the genre’s darkest corners. Tracks like “As Above So Below” and “Lamia” have already been approved for airplay, signaling a deadly blend of accessibility and uncompromising heaviness.

Formed in 2021 by Dejan Milenkovits during the isolation of the pandemic, Shadows started as a solo vision and quickly evolved into a full-fledged band. The raw initial recordings drew in respected collaborators including Mathias Lodmalm (Cemetary, Sundown) and Filip Gäddnäs , adding depth and atmosphere to the developing sound.
By early 2025, Shadows transformed from a solitary studio project into a full force, with Milenkovits reuniting with former Enshrined bandmates Joél Cirera and Martin Bermheden , and solidifying the lineup with bassist Andreas Holm .
Now poised for their first official release, Shadows prepare to plunge listeners into their abyss with Miseria — a stark reflection of modern despair, delivered through blackened flames and death metal precision.
