ROTTING CHRIST Survive Serious Car Accident in Germany, Power Through 'Unholy Trinity' Tour
“What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.”
Greek black metal icons Rotting Christ issued a powerful statement of resilience this week following a serious car accident while on tour in Germany. Despite the incident, the band confirmed that they are safe and unharmed—and that their journey continues, undeterred.
“To all our friends out there asking if we are ok after the serious car accident we had yesterday night in Germany, we can ensure them that we are all safe and in one piece and stronger than ever,” the band posted. “We continue with the 'Unholy Trinity' tour giving our best every night in one of the greatest tours we have ever participated in! See you on the road!”
Currently crisscrossing Europe alongside fellow titans Behemoth and Satyricon , Rotting Christ’s “Unholy Trinity” tour is nothing short of a monumental celebration of extreme metal heritage. The tour showcases three generations of dark, ferocious music—each band bringing a legacy that has shaped the genre.
Amid the chaos of touring and close calls, Rotting Christ continues to mark a major milestone: 35 years of evil existence . To honor the occasion, the band released an explosive new live album, 35 Years of Evil Existence – Live in Lycabettus , capturing a thunderous performance in their hometown of Athens at the historic Lycabettus Hill Theater .
“Live albums can often be throwaway affairs, but 35 Years of Evil Existence is an important account of one of underground metal's greatest legacies in action,” wrote Blabbermouth , summing up what fans around the globe have echoed.
The live recording is a panoramic journey through the band’s discography—from the blasphemous early days of The Sign of Evil Existence to the mystic grandeur of tracks like Δαιμόνων Βρώσης (Demonon Vrosis) and Κατά τον Δαίμονα Εαυτού . Every note is steeped in the blood, fire, and soul of Greek black metal tradition.

Having played over a hundred shows so far in 2024, Sakis and Themis Tolis , along with their comrades-in-arms, continue to embody the enduring and evolving spirit of true metal. Whether it’s new material like the revered Pro Xristou , praised by No Clean Singing as “the most arena-worthy Rotting Christ have been in some time,” or older anthems revisited with fire and fury, the band remains a vital force in the global metal scene.
“Consistency is the name of the game, and these guys are on fire throughout the 25 songs presented here,” raved Teeth of the Divine .
The band is also slated to make a highly anticipated appearance at Milwaukee Metal Fest , adding another massive date to their packed tour calendar.
As Rotting Christ continues to push forward—undaunted by obstacles, fueled by passion—they stand not only as legends of Greek black metal, but as a testament to perseverance and the unbreakable bond between brothers and bandmates.
Stay loud. Stay unholy. Catch them on the road, and remember: What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger.
