Swedish occult rock band GHOST has officially announced the release of their highly anticipated new album Skeletá , set to drop on April 25, 2025, via Loma Vista Recordings. Along with this announcement, GHOST has shared the album's first single, "Satanized," accompanied by a mesmerizing music video. Fans can watch the video below and dive into the sinister world of Skeletá .
"Satanized" is described as an "avalanche of infectious hooks and harmonies" backed by a hypnotic shuffle. The song tells the story of the narrator's submission to dark forces both internal and external. As they acknowledge their own blasphemy and heresy, listeners are pulled into a realm of sinister inevitability. From the opening lines— "There is something inside me and they don't know if there is a cure" —it’s clear: Once you've heard "Satanized," you've already been "Satanized."
The music video for "Satanized" introduces Papa V Perpetua, the new character who will take the stage as the frontman for GHOST’s 2025 touring cycle. This marks an exciting new era for the band.
Skeletá , GHOST’s sixth studio album, is described as the band's most introspective work to date. While previous albums like Impera and Prequelle explored external themes such as empire rise and fall, and era-defining plagues, Skeletá delves into deeply personal emotional experiences. With 10 tracks, the album offers a more intimate approach, focusing on individual emotional struggles, at times reflecting a conversation with oneself in a mirror.
The album is expected to provide a deeply personal experience for fans, filled with timeless and universal sentiments, all presented through a uniquely personal lens.
In a unique move, GHOST has launched The Satanizer , an interactive music video experience that allows fans to upload their photos and become characters featured in the "Satanized" music video. Created in partnership with Jason Zada (known for Elf Yourself ), The Satanizer offers a personalized clip that fans can share on social media, proudly declaring they, too, have been "Satanized."
In other exciting news, GHOST confirmed that Papa V Perpetua will be performing at BLACK SABBATH’s final concert, scheduled for July 5, 2025, at Villa Park in Birmingham, United Kingdom. GHOST shared this thrilling news on social media, writing: "We wish to inform you V is coming… To Birmingham on July 5th."
Throughout GHOST’s career, frontman Tobias Forge has continuously shifted his persona, with each version of Papa Emeritus replacing the one before it. After retiring Papa Emeritus III in favor of Cardinal Copia, Forge introduced Papa Emeritus IV during the Prequelle era. In a 2019 interview, Forge discussed how embodying different identities enhances his onstage performance: "Coming out onstage as another character, looking different, acting different, allows you to act and behave in a way you wouldn't normally do."
GHOST is set to embark on a world tour in 2025 to promote Skeletá . The European leg will kick off on April 15 in Manchester, United Kingdom, and will conclude on May 24 in Oslo, Norway. The North American leg of the tour will begin on July 9 in Baltimore, Maryland, and end on August 16 in Houston, Texas. Fans can look forward to an unforgettable live experience with GHOST’s new era.
In addition to the upcoming album and tour, GHOST’s worldwide box office hit film Rite Here Rite Now is now available for purchase in physical home video format, released on December 6, 2024. The film offers a deeper look into the band’s stage presence and their worldwide impact.
With the release of Skeletá , GHOST continues to evolve and push the boundaries of rock music. Fans are eagerly awaiting the new album, and with the addition of Papa V Perpetua, a groundbreaking interactive music video, and a world tour on the horizon, 2025 promises to be another monumental year for the Swedish occult rockers.
Stay tuned for more updates, and be sure to watch Satanized —you've been warned.
