BEHEMOTH Announce Their Most BLASPHEMOUS Album Yet—'The Shit Ov God' Will DESTROY Your Soul!
January 29, 2025
Extreme metal titans BEHEMOTH have officially announced their forthcoming album, The Shit Ov God , set for release on May 9 via Nuclear Blast Records. Alongside this revelation, the band has unleashed the album's title track, accompanied by a visually striking and opulent music video, which is premiering today at 10 a.m. ET.
Never ones to shy away from controversy, BEHEMOTH have doubled down on their uncompromising approach with their 13th studio effort. Over three decades into their career, the Polish blackened death metal pioneers remain as inflammatory and extreme as ever. Comprising eight ferocious tracks, the album delves into themes of humanity, divinity, and defiance in an era where individuality is cherished, yet many still seek saviors—whether musically, politically, or otherwise. The album's provocative title aligns seamlessly with these themes.
BEHEMOTH frontman and founder Adam "Nergal" Darski explained the reasoning behind the album's title: "We chose this provocative title deliberately, rejecting subtlety in favor of a direct and polarizing statement. It's a defiant plunge into the depths, daring to seek the absolute even in the gutter."
Despite its bluntness, the album’s title gains depth when viewed in conjunction with the artwork, which cleverly subverts the traditional Christogram "IHS" by presenting it in an inverted form.
Nergal elaborated further: "I've reached a point in BEHEMOTH's journey and my own creativity where words and statements mean less and less. The true essence of who we are and what we stand for lies in our music, our art, our visuals, our sounds, our performances, and the ways we connect with you. I deeply believe BEHEMOTH represents transcendent, timeless art. The number thirteen—so magical and significant. If this were to be our final album, I could say I die a proud man. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most refined, purest representation of BEHEMOTH. No filler, no excess—just the very best we have to offer. Hail Satan."
The album's production was handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (known for work with EMPEROR, ENSLAVED, KREATOR, and ROTTING CHRIST), ensuring a balance between BEHEMOTH’s raw aggression and meticulous sonic craftsmanship. For the visual components, the band collaborated with long-time partner Bartek Rogalewicz (BLACK.LODGE.IS.NOW) and Dark Sigil Workshop, resulting in hauntingly evocative cover art.

This spring, BEHEMOTH will embark on the extreme metal event of the year, The Unholy Trinity Tour , featuring legendary Norwegian black metal pioneers SATYRICON as special guests. Joining them from Greece will be the ever-epic ROTTING CHRIST, making this lineup an unmissable force of darkness and brutality.
The tour launches on April 4, 2025, in Vienna, Austria, and will sweep through major cities including Berlin, Paris, London, and Stockholm before culminating in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 27, 2025. Fans can expect a night of extreme metal mastery, with each band bringing their unique sonic devastation to the stage.
BEHEMOTH recently enlisted UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS drummer Jon Rice to step in for longtime drummer Inferno (Zbigniew Robert Promiński) during their 2024 European tour. Inferno was unable to perform due to health issues, and Rice, who has filled in for him on several occasions—including the band's 2022 South American tour with ARCH ENEMY and their 2017 North American tour with SLAYER—proved to be a solid replacement.
BEHEMOTH's O Father, O Satan, O Svmmer 2024 European tour was met with critical acclaim and featured an elite lineup, including TESTAMENT, GAEREA, PESTILENCE, UADA, IMPERIAL TRIUMPHANT, and UNTO OTHERS on select dates.
Their previous album, Opvs Contra Natvram , released in September 2022, was lauded as a fierce statement of rebellion and individuality, pushing the band's artistic limits. With The Shit Ov God , BEHEMOTH seems poised to outdo themselves once again, delivering what could be their most extreme and controversial work yet.
Stay tuned for further updates and prepare for what promises to be an unrelenting sonic and visual experience when The Shit Ov God drops on May 9, 2025.
