FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Burial Oath Signs with Redefining Darkness Records and Releases New Album "The Cycles of Suffering"
Cleveland, OH – November 15, 2024 — Emerging from the shadows, Cleveland’s own blackened metal force, Burial Oath, has returned with a new lineup, a new label partnership, and their latest album. The Cycles of Suffering, their third full-length release, is out now via Redefining Darkness Records . The album delivers a harrowing journey into the depths of sonic darkness, solidifying the band’s place as one of the most compelling acts in the genre.
About the Album
The Cycles of Suffering marks Burial Oath’s first album in over five years, showcasing a revitalized sound with the addition of MOR GRISH and R to the lineup. Decibel Magazine describes the album’s lead single, Pagan Fires, as “catchy, blackened, groovy metal,” offering a taste of the relentless energy and haunting melodies that define the record. From blistering riffs to evocative atmospheres, the album explores pain, resilience, and the cyclical nature of human suffering.
Band History
Burial Oath first burst onto the scene in 2017 with their debut album, Beyond the Vale of Shadowlands, released via Vendetta Records. Hailed as “sulfurous and savage” by No Clean Singing and “one of the most compelling and thought-provoking black metal albums of the year” by Cvlt Nation , the album set the stage for the band’s unrelenting rise.
Their sophomore effort, Subjugation of the Bastard Son (2018), further cemented their reputation. Angry Metal Guy praised it as “black metal at its most unencumbered, effortless and simple,” and fans eagerly awaited what would come next.
The Lineup
With the addition of MOR GRISH on vocals and R on bass, Burial Oath’s sound has evolved into a darker and more dynamic force. The current lineup includes:
MOR GRISH – Vocals
D – Guitars
R – Bass
JV – Drums
Production and Artwork
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Noah Buchanan at Mercinary Studios, with additional vocal tracking by MOR GRISH, The Cycles of Suffering is a testament to Burial Oath’s meticulous artistry. The album’s artwork, created by Nether Temple in collaboration with Vhan Spell Ov Hatred and Greenfeather Media, captures the haunting essence of the band’s music.
