CDN Records Welcomes PUTRID OMEN: Debut Album Blasphemia Offers an Immersive Death Metal Experience that Blurs the Lines Between Music and Cinema

CDN Records is excited to announce the arrival of PUTRID OMEN, a groundbreaking project that transcends the traditional boundaries of death metal to create an immersive experience that feels like stepping into a nightmare. Born from a realm of fear, madness, and grief, PUTRID OMEN offers listeners a chilling soundscape that evokes the eerie atmosphere of a horror film—one that may or may not exist in reality, but instead dwells in the metaphysical, dark, and abstract.

Hailing from a world where decay reigns and nightmares are everyday occurrences, PUTRID OMEN invites audiences to question the nature of their experience—are they simply consuming music, or are they becoming part of a greater narrative? The project's sole member, Maxime Taccardi, brings his distinct artistic vision to life with an infernal and unsettling death metal sound that defies convention. As the saying goes, nothing lasts forever except the scent of death—and in PUTRID OMEN, this theme is felt deeply.

Each composition on Blasphemia transports listeners into a psychological horror story, with the music serving not only as a backdrop but as a portal to an immersive, visceral experience. Blasphemia, released on Maltese Cassette via CDN Records on October 21st, 2024, is limited to only 100 copies. The album conjures haunting imagery and a stark atmosphere, guiding fans through a psychological journey that evokes fear, existential dread, and unsettling emotions. This album pushes the boundaries of traditional death metal, offering a deeply engaging and cinematic experience.

As PUTRID OMEN continues to make waves in the music scene, fans can expect a project that merges the visceral impact of death metal with the immersive storytelling of cinema, creating an artistic exploration that defies genre limitations. This project aims to ignite the imaginations of its audience, inviting them to actively engage with a deeper, unfolding narrative.

Maxime Taccardi: The Artist Behind PUTRID OMEN

Maxime Taccardi, born in Châlons en Champagne in 1982, is a multi-disciplinary artist with a profound vision that bridges the gap between art, music, and the subconscious. A graduate of the University of Metz, Taccardi holds a Master’s Degree in Art and Cultural Sociology, with his thesis focusing on the concept of monstrosity becoming sublime in art. He has also been an art teacher in the Paris region from 2010 to 2020, and his lifelong passion for kickboxing has led him to instruct the discipline for over five years.

Taccardi's work aims to create a Gesamtkunstwerk—a total art form that integrates synesthesia. His art spans across paintings, drawings, short films, videos, and music, and much of his inspiration is drawn from his dreams. His creations exist in the space between reality and fantasy, as reflected in his unique blood paintings, where he uses his own blood, directly applied from open wounds, to create the artwork.

“It is not intended to shock people, but rather is a process,” he explains. “The final result is as important as the way it’s made. I see art as a ritual, a conversation between spirits and my mortal flesh. I recall what Plato said about art: it is the manifestation of spirits through the artist’s body.”

Music, for Taccardi, is a direct translation of his visual art into sound, and his musical project K.F.R serves as the sonic counterpart to his visual creations. K.F.R is a deeply experimental project that aims to bring his artwork to life through sound, with the second album NEKRO (2015) featuring a collaboration with Joseph Bishara, the composer behind the scores of Insidious, Annabelle, and The Conjuring.

For over a decade, Taccardi has also created visual artwork for various metal bands, further cementing his place in the intersection of art and music. He is also the author of several books, including The Book of Death (2020), Beyond Khaos (2020), and The Book of Demons (2021), all published by Heavy Music Artwork. His work has been featured in publications such as Planet Rock (UK), Metallian (France), Heavy Music Artwork Mag (UK), Masterpieces of 2018 (UK), and Black Metal Volume I (France).
