ILLUSIONS PLAY Releases New Single and Official Video 'Under Shining Moon': Atmospheric Doom/Death Metal from Istanbul, Türkiye!

Atmospheric doom/death metal band ILLUSIONS PLAY released their new single, Under Shining Moon, from their upcoming second album, Empire of Desolation, which will be released this fall. This latest track is now available on all major streaming platforms, continuing the band's journey into the depths of doom and death metal.

Under Shining Moon has a long history, tracing its origins back 17 years before being completed in 2021. The track delves into the struggle of trying to escape the past, only to find it inescapable. Like an endless loop, the past remains ever-present, shaping our identities and reflecting in our present. The song explores the idea that while we may strive to move beyond what has been, the past is intrinsically linked to who we are today, making it impossible to fully leave behind.

With Under Shining Moon, ILLUSIONS PLAY begins with the most aggressive elements of doom-death metal and then delves into the realm of melodic death metal. The band masterfully blends intense growl and scream vocals with fast, heavy guitar riffs and high-tempo drumming, all while maintaining the unique atmosphere of despair and melancholy characteristic of doom metal. This combination draws listeners into an immersive experience, pulling them deeper into the music's emotional and sonic landscape.

For fans of Paradise Lost, Swallow the Sun, Dimmu Borgir, and Dark Tranquillity, Under Shining Moon delivers an emotive experience that merges glacial riffs, deep growls, and clean vocals, weaving an intricate tapestry of both despair and beauty. The single encapsulates the band’s ability to transform desolation into breathtaking music, combining dark rhythms with melodic atmospheres to paint a haunting picture of melancholy and reflection.

Emerging from the ancient echoes of Istanbul, ILLUSIONS PLAY began in 2011 as a project by Ukrainian musician Vitaliy Petrenko (Can Aydin). Now firmly rooted in Istanbul’s underground metal scene, the band has cultivated a unique identity, seamlessly merging atmospheric death doom metal with elements of dynamic and emotive expression. Under Shining Moon forges a soundtrack that mirrors the tension between light and darkness, offering a compelling reflection on a world in flux.

Building on this momentum, ILLUSIONS PLAY is preparing to release their much-anticipated second album, Empire of Desolation, in autumn 2024. The album will feature seven tracks:
