BELTFED WEAPON Thrash/Speed/Death Metal Supergroup Premieres New Track "Tortured Within" on Metal Injection!
Seattle-based thrash/speed/death metal supergroup Beltfed Weapon is back with their highly anticipated new single, "Tortured Within," premiering on Metal Injection on September 10, 2024. Following the success of their 2023 EP Darkened Demise, Beltfed Weapon founder and guitarist Frank Hetzel returns with a powerhouse lineup of special guest collaborators, including:
Stu Block (vocals, ex-Iced Earth, Into Eternity)
Mike Lepond (bass, Symphony X)
Kragen Lum (lead guitar, Heathen, Exodus)
Bryan Newbury (drums, Into Eternity)
Mixed and mastered by Juan Urtega, "Tortured Within" delivers a relentless blend of thrash, speed, and death metal, with an all-star cast of metal veterans contributing to its fierce energy. The cover art was crafted by Sidjimbe Art, adding a visual punch to the track’s intense theme.
Frank Hetzel explains the inspiration behind the song:
"'Tortured Within' is about a person battling a war within themselves, like addiction, and struggling to break free and find a positive direction. Working with Stu and Mike was an awesome experience. Both are consummate professionals, and as always, Kragen and Bryan delivered on every level. I couldn’t be happier with how this song turned out."
Mike Lepond added, "Frank has some seriously vicious riffs with an almost machine-like precision. His music is very different from Symphony X, and it was a challenge at first. But the more I practiced, the more I appreciated his metal artistry."
Stu Block commented, "It was fun working with Frank on this tune. He's a very talented musician and an awesome guy!"
The video for "Tortured Within" was created by Andrzej, bringing the raw emotion and intensity of the track to life.

About BELTFED WEAPON
Founded in 1999 by guitarist/songwriter Frank Hetzel, Beltfed Weapon has been a force in the Seattle metal scene for over 20 years. Hetzel, who initially gained recognition as a booking agent for national and international touring bands, established Beltfed Weapon as a project heavily influenced by speed, thrash, and death metal.
Over the years, Beltfed Weapon has released a demo and three critically acclaimed EPs, playing shows with metal icons such as Testament, Overkill, Death Angel, Nile, and Agnostic Front. In 2023, the band released the Darkened Demise EP, which featured an all-star lineup, including Steve Tucker (Morbid Angel), Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy), and Jason Viebrooks (Exhorder).
