Decibel’s 20th Anniversary Show: A Milestone of Extreme Metal

Decibel Magazine, North America’s premier monthly metal publication, is celebrating two decades of extreme metal with a landmark event: Decibel’s 20th Anniversary Show. Slated for August 31 at Brooklyn Bowl Philadelphia, this epic birthday bash promises a night of metal mayhem, featuring performances from some of the most influential and revered bands in the genre.

Headlining the celebration are the legendary California death metal pioneers, Autopsy. Known for their gruesome and chaotic sound, Autopsy is set to make their Philadelphia debut with a performance that drummer/vocalist Chris Reifert describes as “100% horrific Death Metal.” After nearly four decades in the scene, their appearance at this anniversary event is highly anticipated, marking a significant moment in both the band’s history and Decibel’s legacy.

Joining Autopsy on this colossal lineup are northeast death metal titans, Immolation. In a nod to Decibel’s 20-year run, Immolation will deliver a special “First 20 Years” set, showcasing the band’s evolution and enduring impact on the metal community.

Progressive death metal virtuosos Horrendous will commemorate the 10th anniversary of their seminal album Ecdysis with an exclusive full-album performance. Meanwhile, epic doom metal heralds Crypt Sermon will treat attendees to a complete performance of their latest opus, The Stygian Rose, enveloping the crowd in their dark, melodic soundscapes.

The lineup doesn’t stop there. U.S. black metal progenitors Krieg are set to conjure ritual horror, while Deathevokation will pay homage to the old-school death metal tradition with a blistering set. Philly’s own Rid of Me will round out the bill, bringing their powerhouse grunge sound to the stage.

Reflecting on this monumental occasion, Decibel founder and editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian shares, “We are proud to reveal an event that feels as momentous as our 20th anniversary itself. We’re eager to party in our hometown with some of our oldest and dearest friends. And, no, you’re not on the guest list.”

Tickets for Decibel’s 20th Anniversary Show are available now, with options for All-Ages General Admission and a limited 21+ VIP experience. The VIP option includes early entry to the Pre-Show ‘Decibowl’ Reception, access to an elevated VIP Viewing Deck with seating and waitstaff, and more. For those looking to kick off the celebration early, the ‘Decibowl’ Pre-Show Reception will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm in the restaurant portion of Brooklyn Bowl Philly. Attendees can bowl with the bands, breweries, and Decibel staffers, and enjoy early access to crowd-free merch shopping. Please note that VIP and Decibowl tickets are extremely limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
