A.I.D.S. - Maleficus Sabbatum - reviewed By Metal Digest ! Check it out https://metal-digest.com/2023/08/20/a-i-d-s-maleficus-sabbatum-cd-reissue/

The man who calls himself Tophetarath has been a prevalent musician for a long time. Not only has the multi-instrumentalist been a member of Viking and Fog, they’re also active in Fifth Chasm. Yet, Tophetarath is also the mastermind behind A.I.D.S., the band, not the disease. Back in 2006, A.I.D.S. delivered their debut album and it took until 2022 for Tophetarath to properly follow this up, releasing their sophomore album ‘Maleficus Sabbatum’ as a digital release. However, this year has A.I.D.S. teaming up with Witches Brew to reissue that sophomore album on CD format.

Black metal fans are very good at collecting their music on a physical format, searching it out like a corpse painted raccoon rummaging about to find that last morsel. Therefore, to have ‘Maleficus Sabbatum’ as a CD release is something to keep a beady eye out for. Yes, ok, there isn’t anything that differentiates from that initial digital release, no extra bonus tracks, or a spring clean of the sound. This is ‘Maleficus Sabbatum’ exactly as A.I.D.S. intended it to be delivered on CD. If you’re of the vinyl persuasion or even in the cassette camp, there are currently no rumblings of a wax or tape version, so unfortunately, you’ll have to sit this one out.

However, for those who like to collect their black metal as a physical format and CD is that medium of choice, this reissue of ‘Maleficus Sabbatum’ is definitely a solid choice.
