Univertigo - Save Me From The Void - Reviewed By Metal Digest ! Check it out here https://metal-digest.com/2023/09/07/univertigo-save-me-from-the-void/
Well what can I say about this Univertigo. They hail from Toulouse in France and they are described as electronic/melodic death metal and their theme for their songs are space travel, ancient aliens and reality with their first album being ‘Save Me from the Void’.
When listening to ‘Save Me…’, I really can’t decide what they sound like. For example, in ‘Mirage’, the music is theatrical death metal couple with jazz club-esque type keyboards and then Univertigo throw in robotic voices which I guess is in keeping with the space and ancient aliens theme. Now, ‘Nidus’, I liked as it has that space travel feel about it being very floaty and reminded me also of some of the music I heard as a kid from my Dad’s ‘War of the Worlds’ story tapes he played on long journeys. ‘Saryn’ means Star Child, I could picture a child exploring a strange world and I liked how the music kind if reflected this whilst ‘Octavia’ is very pulsey and reminded of a rocket or space ship going through space after take off.
However, ‘Save Me…’ just didn’t do it for me. It wasn’t gore drenched or introspectively self-loathing. Yet, if sci-fi death metal is your thing, then you’ll certainly enjoy it a lot more than I did. Metal Digest
